Register DG in RMAN qustion

Hi, I am currently taking a daily backup on the primary and the logs are being shipped to DG env. I keep 7 days worth of archives on disk and keep that information in catalog as well. I would like to keep the same 7 days archives on ASM on DG site and remove the rest. I don't need the backup of archives on DG site because I am already doing that on primary. How would I register the DG database? I see CONFIGURE DB_UNIQUE_NAME command but I am not sure how to use it properly so I don't mess
