Assigning other companies to contacts

I'm a newbie when it comes to Administration of CRM On Demand, so please bare with me...
We have approximately 30 representatives agencies within our company who have certain zip codes assigned to them. I've already added those agencies and their individuals as contacts into CRM On Demand. Now I'm adding contacts into the tool and I want to add a field to the page with the appropriate agency assigned. I'd like to do this manually first to get the hang of it, then import our zip code database so when new contacts are added, it is filled in automatically. (This will be extremely helpful as we enter leads from trade shows and know who to forward
