/etc/shadow failed login count field in /etc/shadow
Hi Folks,I'm running Solaris 11.1 for SPARC on a T5120.
When I create a user account I've noticed that the last field in /etc/shadow is given a numeric value
Some examples:-
guest:$5$TmXn33lR$w.AsPIh8SET/h7iuaz6e3TzKc2OvUgNav4JXq2/Pi09:15703::::::18560
joe:$5$XH8GOwQX$dSQEwts0XEF2No5kMU0Zqj07yA9yHDGhnhqfhDiCZdA:15704::::::8080
peter:$5$mSpo80.Y$5Fkdc9GrRZXyOFFECVT685FOCIyj7Zlbzsd7IuS3Z17:15704::::::7792
This field is normally used to record the number of failed login attempts; according to the man page for /etc/shadow:-
"Failed login count in low order four bits; remainder reserved for future use, set to zero."
