What is the use of Hazardous and UN Numbers ?

Dear Experts,

As I seen in the user guide that how can we use the function of UN Numbers and Hazardous but what is the need of it either from this function user knows that these items are hazardous and may cause any damage or what? Kindly Explain this to me.

Another Question I want to ask is that is there any option by which we can see the items expiry information?
