Assigning Balancing Value to the LE

Hi

I am setting up a new company on an existing Ledger.

The existing companies does not have any BSV ,they were upgraded from R11 to R12.

I want to know if it is mandatory to assign a BSV to the LE, and what is the impact of assigning BSV to LE.
