Is there an API for assigning categories to a new tax book?

Hi all-

We're setting up a new tax book, which means we'll need to associate about 150 categories with it, which would be a pretty heavy manual task. Note 1452195.1 lists the Assets APIs but I don't see anything that might help. Does anybody have any suggestions for mass adding categories to a new tax book?
