In E1 9.2, does basic preference 34 for mode of transportation work with basic preference 31 for opt

In E1 9.2, does basic preference 34 for mode of transportation work with basic preference 31 for options and equipment when the O&E rule is based on "Item only"?

We use preference 34 to populate "LTL" in the sales order detail lines when the user forgets to enter the MOT in the sales order header. We also use preference 31 to automatically add accessorial charges (options and equipment) to the list of shipment charges in P4945 based on the ship-to customer. The combination of these two preferences works well as long as the accessorial charges (options and equipment) are based on the customer.
