How to convert existing contract agreement to blanket purchase agreement

Hi guys,

We want to covert our existing contract agreement (Which is in progress with partial releases) to blanket purchase agreement due to some business change.

What are the essential things should take care before creating it.

is there any api to do so?

Please let me know the full process to succeed the above. We are having encumbrance accounting.
