Create a receipt with a future date

EBS 12.1.3  We would like to be able to create a receipt with a future date.  Is this possible? How would we achieve this?  Our goal is to be able to close our purchasing and AP a couple days ahead of the end of the GL period.  We have been told that receiving would need to be shut down during those few days as you cannot put a future date on a receipt.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
