Balance Restatement rate type

On the computation setup for multicurrency in jde 9.1, I would like to know how the Rate Type of A for average is computed. Is this the average of just the two rates, beginning period rate and ending period rate? Or is it average of all the rates for each day beginning with first day of the period and ending with last day of the period?
