Custom application within WMS

When working with the process selection app (P46093), the system gives us the possibility to define a custom application to suggest locations trough the location selection process. We want to know what is the real purpose and/or functionality behind fields (PRO1, PRO2, and PRO3) and how it would work in concordance with the standard application if we want to develop our BSFN to generate picking suggestions, since standard functionality doesn't cover all of the client's cases.
