Installing 19C next to 12c for upgrade.

Hi,

I'm trying to install 19.3 on a windows 2016 server which currently has 12.2.1.3 installed. I want to upgrade the existing database to 19.3. I download and extracted the 19.3 software to directory D:\Oracle19C. I'm using setup.exe to install. Here are my selections so far.

Step1: Install Software Only

Step2: Single instance database installation

Step3: Enterprise Edition

Step4: Use Existing Account (I enter the "oracle_user" account created under the 12C installation)

Step5: Specify Installation Location

Oracle base: D:\app\oracle_user

Then under "The software directory is the Oracle home directory"

Question: Why is the Software location disabled and why does it default to the location where I extracted the softeware files? The 12c installer lets you put ORACLE_HOME under ORACLE_BASE: ORACLE_BASE=D:\oracle and ORACLE_HOME: D:\oracle\product\12.2.0\dbhome_1. I would have expected for 19c to be able to create ORACLE_BASE: ORACLE_BASE=D:\Oracle19c and ORACLE_HOME: D:\Oracle19c\product\19.3.0\dbhome_1.
