Enabling the WebLogic Domain Administrative Port for EPM and Essbase domains

If I'm trying to enable secure protocols in the WebLogic domains and want to separate the administrative traffic and customer traffic, is is possible to enable the WebLogic domain administrative ports for EPM and Essbase? There will be port changes and start/stop scripts would have to be updated but I don't have a clear understanding of the shared services registry and the impact it would have on the applications. Is something that has been tried? Is is worth trying or spending time researching? What problems do members of the community foresee?
