Can We Customise the Default Custom and Connector Scripts?

Is there any way we can modify the default scripts provided with Custom and Connector Requests? I would like to add a set of "helper" functions to the default scripts so that they are automatically available for use whenever a new script is developed. Ideally I would like to be able to have the scripts access a library of functions, but as that is not possible then updating the default templates would be the next best thing.

We are running E1 9.2.3.3, TR 9.2.8.4.
