Usage & Purpose of Vanity URL

Hello All,


Could someone confirm the usage of Vanity URL and the purpose of enabling it. Also, Is it mandatory to enable Vanity URL if Vanity Email is being used.
We have enabled Vanity Email for our customer and would like to know further about Vanity URL. Additionally, is there any link between both.
