How to prevent sales order line splitting through R42118

Hi,

We are using R42118 for backorder release processing.

We would like to understand how to stop sales order lines from being split during the R42118 process. If processing option #3 on the Process tab is changed to 1, it mentions that commitments will not be performed.

Will this setting release the backorder without splitting the line? Also, are there any additional settings that control line splitting behavior?
