Working with Oracle Contracts Word Sync using Microsoft 365 (post–Word 2010 support)

Hello,

I am trying to understand the recommended approach for using the Oracle Contracts (OKC) Word integration / repository contract synchronization feature in an environment where users are on Microsoft 365 (or any latest Word versions).

From Oracle documentation and behavior observed in the system, the Word synchronization functionality appears to rely on Word 2003 XML format and Word 2010 compatibility. However, in Microsoft 365:

  • Opening contract documents generates warnings related to custom XML elements
  • Saving documents may strip or alter Oracle-specific XML
  • This prevents reliable round-trip synchronization (download → edit → upload → update structured terms)

Questions:

  1. What is the currently recommended process for working with contract documents if users are on modern Word versions (Microsoft 365)?
