Even that tablets can be more convenient, I don't fully adapt to the screen glow while doing a long reading, also I like the smell of a brand new book

Depends which book , I prefer reading tech books over a computer like a pdf. This will help me reduce efforts of typing cryptic commands where understanding output is more important than command itself.

Lab exercises in pdf formats are very handy during practical sessions and bookmarking certain books online and referring them when facing real time scenarios

But nothing beats the feeling of holding a real book, when it comes to reading short stories, novels, literature and the list goes on.

In spite of working in IT, the rest of my life is pretty deliberately low-tech. I fly airplanes built just after WWII(sometimes with no electrical systems) while navigating with a map and compass just for the fun of it and I still prefer to drive a manual transmission. Can't beat the feel of paper and you never have to worry about charging a book or freaking out if you accidentally drop it...

I love your input here, Chris! That is amazing that you still use such "old school" techniques even when more advanced technologies are available. I find that fascinating!!

I'm with @Chris Mars on this.  You can't beat the feel of paper.  You can also pass on a paper book when you've finished it...or even send it on a journey (which you can track) with something like https://www.bookcrossing.com!

    @Rob Heath,

Wow!  I had never heard of that "social experiment"  (bookcrossing.com).  That is totally fascinating, and I am going to send some books on trips of their own.  Thanks for sharing!

For convenience I read a lot from my phone, as I always have it on me.  So if I am on a bus, or waiting for someone or an appointment, I can sneak in a read.  Though I do love and spend time with physical books and a cup of tea by my side.

When reading long books I usually prefer paper back. However most of the time I read on my phone because it's always within reach and I read a lot from my pc as well.

Kindle still has the best way to read,  I prefer using a Kindle but even the app on my iPad is good.

If spent my whole day reading in my computer or in my phone but this is more a "scanning for information" type of reading. I do not fully read texts but looks for key words to get the informaiton that I need quickly.

If I want to read for pleasure, then I have to go to paper books where I stop the "scanning mode" and enjoy more the words and how are they written.

I spend more time in my car than I care to admit to, Audiobooks keep me relatively sane.

I need to get some more Audiobooks on hand. Do you have a place you like to get them from the most?

Nothing out of the ordinary - Audiobooks purchased a load of the smaller producers.

I like autobiographies read by the author

I totally agree! Staring at a computer screen all day, I love nothing more than to remove technology from my vision and hold a real book .

Well, That sounds Awesome to hear "remove technology from my vision and hold a real book" !

  • Paperback / Hardcover

PaperBack/Hardcover: I love to read books, especially in the form of paperback that is when you actually get to feel the book. Somehow i Personally prefer it that way, may be I am not addicted much to Electronic Gadgets that is the reason behind.

  • Paperback / Hardcover

I personally prefer Paperback books over ebooks as i find it difficult to maintain concentration while reading ebooks.

    I get bored soon.

It does not give  the feeling of reading from paper.Better for the eyes as well.

My choice is paperback/hardcover whether it is some story book or any technology.

    1. Doesn't put strain on my eyes.

    2. Page by page, It will boost us to complete the book as soon as possible and makes me happy when I am already half a way through the book; I know this is silly but this is how I like it.

The first and the best preference is to read a paper book. The second best method is by listening to a speech. Sometime both can interchange its place.

I have really been enjoying audio books lately as I exercise & do housework and decorate for the holidays I do have to say, I travel for fairly long periods sometimes, and having a library in your pocket is kind of awesome.

Hardcover or paperback...the old school way so i can highlight and write notes when needed.

  • I usually prefer & recommend to read Paperback books over ebooks, As we sit more than 8hr a day in our routine work in computer, Lets avoid reading from digital gadgets.

  • I prefer Paperback to any other modes.

  • I prefer to read a book from front to back Unless it's a technical reference, then I just look up the information I need.
