How to put gift certificate codes (old and new one) and gift certificate amount on a RMA form?

I am trying to put gift certificate code (the old and the new one) and the gift certificate amount used in case of purchases where gift certificate was used, on an RMA form. This will give the customer care team a better visibility for the gift certificate that's used when they do the return for a customer and is on a call with the customer. The customer care team simply be able to access the old code used in the order and the new code generated when the return completes & customer is sent a new code.
Can anyone suggest the best approach to solving this? I am thinking of using a workflow that gets these values from the order and from the new gift certificate record.
