Custom field derived from saved search - available in another saved search?

Hey Experts, I have a custom transaction body field that is derived from a saved search. I am trying to use this field in another transaction saved search. So far not working and the Suite Answers seems to have conflicting views whether this is even possible.

Pro: Answer Id: 81438 describes exactly what I am trying to do. But the solution does not work for me.

Con: Answer Id: 31727 seems to cleary state 'because its values are not stored, the field is not available in search results, including lists based on saved searches'

So which is right? I thought I'd ask y'all before giving up.
