Custom column field sourcing from item, ability to update it from column

Hello, we have a check box on the item record called FLOOR STOCK that is sourced onto a column on work orders. Some items don't have the check box marked correctly so our inventory manager would like to be able to check in off on the work order and then have the field updated on the item record. Basically a field that is the same on the item record and column on work order that can be updated from either record.
