Manufacturing work order. Have a work order and it gives an allocation error when releasing.

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:23PM in Ask A Guru 2 comments

Work order is several layers deep with assembly with 7 subassemblies and 6 raw materials on it. I am using Allocation Strategies and have it set as the Predefined Available Inventory base strategy set up for work orders. All of the subassemblies have been build and have available inventory as do the raw materials. When I set the work order to a Released status I get the following error:

Because this work order includes a component line item with an Allocation Strategy selected, you must select or enter a date in these fields: Production End Date.

The Production End Date is filled out on the Work Order but is grayed out. I manually tried to override the Actual Production Start and End Dates but it still gives me the error. When setting to Released it appears to let me override the existing grayed out production end date as it opens it up and I can change it but when I save the record it gives the same error.

Howdy, Stranger!
