Sales Order Line - Not affected by Discount

Is there an item type that wouldn’t be affected by the customer discount on a quote or sales order? Issue is, typically charge customers a discount to any given line item’s price, but there are certain costs that are passed onto customers dollar-for-dollar that should not be affected by the discount. Is there a way to do this?
