SuiteCommerce websites with large numbers of items may experience slow load times when accessing the Product List Page. One reason for this can be having too many matrix items loading an excessive amount of item fields through the Item Search API.
Luckily there's an easy way to resolve this by choosing to use an alternative Matrix Child Item Field Set that is unique to the Product List Page:
- Go to Commerce > Websites > Website List > Edit Website Record > Field Sets
- Create an alternative Matrix Child Items Field set that contains a more minimal set of fields for the Product Listings Page. Note: you will have to determine which fields are necessary for your particular PLP.
- Set the Field Set Name and Field Set ID for the new Field set and Save.
4. Go to Commerce > Websites > Configuration > Select Website and Domain > Shopping Subtab
5. Enter the Field Set ID for the new field set under the MATRIX CHILD ITEMS FIELDSET FOR SEARCH field
This field set will now be used in place of the default matrix child items field set when loading the Product List Page. Depending on how many matrix items options are being loaded, this can significantly reduce the total load time of the Product List Page.
