Document Date Field?

We have a Custom Field called Document Date (custbody_document_date)

The description says 'The date stated in the document such as invoice or vendor bill.' and it was created by the NetSuite implementation team: From Install of Bundle 47492 (This appears to be the 'Tax Audit Files' bundle?)

As far as I know we have never used this field - it is hidden on our custom transaction forms.

Recently I have noticed a few errors with importing updates to Sales Orders, and we have had to complete this field (as the import was rejected without it).

I've also now seen this error when trying to update the quantity on a line item that is linked to a Purchase Order for a Drop Ship order:
