Generate Statements take very long and failed

Every month end, our accounting team will go to Transactions > Customers > Generate Statements to print Statements for customers. This function has been working well in previous months.

But in recent a few days, Accounting team noticed that when a few customers are checked, it takes forever to loading and failed. They have to check individual customer to print statement.

This morning, the situation is turning worse. Even single statement can NOT be loaded.

Can you please advise what might cause this issue and how to fix it?
