Changing the status of an action button

Hey there Community! Wondering what this button is called and how to possibly change what is shown here on a refunded cash sale. Would love to have it change to 'Refunded' if the cash sale was refunded and not have it sit at deposited, if possible.

This example has been refunded, yet there's no way to really tell that step has been completed. Thank you!
