How to solve File Cabinet > Restricted to Group > Permissions Needed?

We are working on a 3rd party bundle that accesses a folder in our File Cabinet. This folder contains the documents that should only be accessed by the Accounting team. However, when we restrict the access to a specific employee group, the script is encountering an error -- currently, the only way to resolve this is to execute the script as an administrator.
We also found that using the Core Administration Permissions on a specific role allows access to the restricted folder; however, this is only true for User Event Scripts and not for Suitelets (I am not sure what the difference is between them since we are executing them using the same role).
