Why is the Show in Filter Region option disabled for a new Checkbox Custom Transaction Line Field?

We created a custom Transaction Line Field (checkbox) for sales. The field is displayed as part of the item record in the SO.

We have a saved search that provides SO data and line item data including the new custom Transaction Line Field. However, when we add it to the filter, the "Show in Filter Region" is greyed out.

Any pointer on why the field is greyed out would be appreciated.
