Why the mandatory Custom Segment causing errors in Fixed Asset module?

The client has made a custom segment mandatory across the system. This is causing errors in the Fixed Assets Management module. I have tried setting up the custom segment by applying it to the Fixed Asset, Fixed Asset Proposal and Depreciation History records and mapping via Transaction Field Mapping, but I am still unable to generate a depreciation schedule
