How to create a Workflow that sets a field on a sales order based IF record field

I'm trying to develop a workflow that based on the ship method on the IF record a field on the sales order is changed. I can't get it to work, I have a saved search as my condition and I can see the workflow running but the field isn't setting. Is what I'm trying to do possible?
