How to include expense account in Budget Validation Suiteapp if the PO is item type?

Hi,

I am using expense commitment and budget validation suiteapp. According to SuiteAnswers "Item field cannot be used for budget validation. To validate items, enter the applicable transaction fields."

Has anyone tried this before? How can I include the budget alert for expenses mapped to the non-inventory item for purchase items?

I am using custom budget and have created budget for the specific account I am testing. It worked if I will use Purchase Order - expense type but not working if using the item type.
