I have a workflow state field that captures the field value of the expected ship date before it is edited
The field is named 'Old Shipping Date':
This workflow field should then be used to populate a transaction line custom field called 'original expected ship date'
the intention is to capture changes in the expected shipping date so that this can trigger an email to the customer.
My workflow is set up to:
- capture the expected shipping date (native field) on a before record load trigger and store the value in the 'old shipping date' field (workflow state field)
- On a before record submit trigger, the value of the custom transaction line field ('original expected ship date') will be set using the value of the workflow state field from 1.
However, the value of the field in 1. changes to whatever the value is in the expected shipping date at any point in time.
This should only be setting the value once on a before record load trigger.
Why is this showing the value before record load value being set after the record is updated and saved?

The expected behaviour would be for it to capture the value of 7/7/2023 in the workflow state field ('old expected date 1) before the user edits the record
--> the user updates the date to 8/7/2023 and presses save
-->the value of 7/7/2023 is set on the 'original expected shipping date' value after sourcing this from the 'old expected date 1' field
