Can we create a Document type custom field that shows the Files that are attached?

I followed answer ID 105693 and was able to create a hyperlink on the header level. And I understand it only works when there is only one file. Multiple files will only show one of them. But is it possible to create a custom filed as document type? The reason is I'm trying to select that field on the workflow, so file attached to the invoice can be emailed to the customer via workflow.
