Can a Subsidiary with transactions be made inactive?

I wanted to confirm whether a subsidiary with transactions can be made inactive?

What are the implications of this?

Specifically, does this mean that nothing can be posted to it?

Can reports be run for it while it is inactive?

Or does it need to be made active again?
