Formula disabled in Saved Search

I'm setting up a new saved search based on some instructions (below) in another post.

The instructions Have a third line "Formula (Numeric)" based on Messages. I don't see that option in the field, and I can't click on Formula (shown below). I don't see "Formula" in the Field dropdown, and entering something like Messages doesn't enable the Formula field.

How can I enable the Formula field?
