Matrix to review roles and permissions

Do you know how to get a matrix to assess whether all roles in Netsuite have the correct permissions? In the past my company pulled this together manually, however, I'm looking for a more solid and efficient way.
For the annual (IT) audit, we need a matrix with Categories (lists, reports, setup, transactions), permission (events, partners, vendors, timer, custom list etc.), classification (admin, HR, Finnane etc.) and than per Netsuite role (admin, A/P clerk, CFO, PMO etc) the rights (None, view, edit, create, full).
We il definitely not be the only company being asked to review roles and permissions. Any suggestions to do this efficiently are welcome!
