Decision Maker Join on Send Email action

Hi There

On a workflow, using the 'send email action' I can see the option to use a record join for the decision maker record:

Looking at the XML of the workflow, this points to the field/join as being a standard field:

I assumed this was referring to contacts with the contact role set to 'decision maker'.

However, that doesn't appear to be the case since I receive this error despite having a contact set as a 'decision maker' with a valid email address.

What is this join referring to?
