New to NetSuite | Amortization Feature: Preferences

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:46PM in Advanced Accounting & OneWorld

After discussing the overview and enablement of the Amortization feature in the previous article, we will now talk the various amortization preferences.

You can set the amortization preferences via Setup > Accounting > Accounting Preferences under General subtab.

Here are the following preferences available in the Amortization section:

Allow Users to Modify Amortization Schedule:

  • Mark this box to permit changes to the total amount on an amortization schedule after its initial creation. The total must always match the purchase amount of the associated line item, and only unrecognized amounts can be modified.
  • Unmark this box if you prefer amortization schedules not be changed after they are created.
