SuiteQLis a powerful query language introduced by NetSuite, built on the SQL-92 revision of Structured Query Language (SQL). It is designed to provide users with efficient and flexible access to NetSuite’s data model, enabling advanced queries beyond the capabilities of Saved Searches and reports.
With support for analytics data source queries,SuiteQL offers robust tools for retrieving complex and specific data, making it an ideal solution for scenarios where traditional reporting methods may fall short.
SuiteQL can be accessed through the following:
- SuiteAnalytics Connect: Allows you to use ODBC and JDBC drivers to connect external tools to NetSuite and run queries.
- The N/query module in SuiteScript: Enables you to write and execute queries directly in SuiteScript for custom applications and automation.
- SuiteTalk REST web services: Provides a way to perform queries via API, ideal for integrating external systems with NetSuite.
Benefits of Using SuiteQL
- Access to the Analytics Data Source:
SuiteQL enables you to query the analytics data source, providing enhanced capabilities for querying NetSuite data. This data source ensures consistency with SuiteAnalytics Workbook, addressing the data exposure inconsistencies previously encountered in saved searches and reports.
SuiteQL applies the same role-based access restrictions as SuiteAnalytics Workbook, ensuring users can only access data authorized for their roles. This reinforces data security. Additionally, SuiteQL includes a predefined list of supported SQL functions and prohibits unsupported SQL functions, reducing the risk of SQL injection attacks.
Important Note
SuiteQL supports the syntax of both SQL-92 and Oracle SQL, but you cannot combine these syntaxes within the same query.
