Item system notes does not show changes to expense account

I know that the expense (COGS) account was changed on an item, but the change does not show up in the system notes. I created a saved search to show all system notes for an item and the change to the expense account IS in the search results. The system notes view has no criteria/filter. Is NetSuite filtering the system notes in the UI? If so, why would this be done?
