Prevent automatic transaction numbering change

Question

Does anyone know of a way to prevent NetSuite from picking up and running with an accidental change to document number?

For example, we might start with O104 with the automatic numbering system, but when someone accidentally enters O1055555555555 NetSuite will abandon its settings and make the next order O1005555555556.

Is there any known way to prevent this beyond disallowing users from entering an order reference themselves?

I think NetSuite doesn't have built-in features to prevent this.

Only way is to prevent users or detect these changes.

The other option is use Custom Transaction numbering. Need to create custom transaction type.

Example: Create a PO numbering as custom transaction record. Then assign a Advanced Numbering rule set. There you can define the numbering rules. Add prefix , suffix.

You need a script to create this custom transaction record and assign this generated number to the transaction record.

Suppose I am creating a PO, the script will run and will generate a transaction number based on my rule. ex: PO/AUH/05/25/001 here is 001 is the autogenerated one.

In this case even if the user manually overrides this number with O1055555555555 the next PO number will be PO/AUH/05/25/002 as we are generating number through custom transaction record.

I know this is an extra effort. Just adding suggestions.
