Managing Inventory Valuation for Pre-Sold 'Hold Orders' in NetSuite
Hello all,
We have a unique business scenario where customers can pre-purchase large quantities of equipment (e.g., 500 laptops), and while we transfer ownership to them immediately (invoicing upon purchase), we continue to physically store the items in our warehouse and fulfill individual unit shipments as needed.
The challenge is with inventory valuation: even though the ownership has transferred, NetSuite continues to include those 500 units in our inventory valuation until they are marked as Shipped in an Item Fulfillment.
We've developed a workaround using separate locations, but it's complex and prone to issues. Ideally, we'd like to leverage the standard Pick/Pack/Ship process — fulfill the order, mark it as
