New To NetSuite | Custom Field Types: Date vs. Date/Time
NetSuite offers both Date and Date/Time custom field types to capture time-based information. While they seem similar, they serve distinct purposes depending on whether you need to track just the calendar date or both the date and the exact time.
Note: The date and time are based on the user’s NetSuite Time Zone preference, set at Home > Set Preferences, not on the browser client time zone.
Example Use Cases for Date fields:
- Project Due Date
- Contract Start/End Date
- Invoice Date
- Requested Ship Date
Example Use Cases for Date/Time Fields:
- System logs or timestamps
- Meeting or appointment times
