New To NetSuite | Custom Field Types: Help vs. Inline HTML

edited Aug 22, 2025 11:07PM in SuiteBuilder & SuiteBundler

In NetSuite, both the Help and Inline HTML custom field types are used to display read-only information on forms, but they differ in formatting capabilities, appearance, and purpose.

The Help field type is designed to show plain, instructional text directly on the form. It is ideal for simple notes, user guidance, or basic explanations that don't require styling. These fields are static, do not support HTML or formatting, and are best suited for displaying short, clear instructions between or above other fields.

In contrast, the Inline HTML field type allows for full HTML content, enabling rich formatting such as bold text, colors, and layout elements. This field is often used to enhance the form visually or to present styled messages, alerts, or visual groupings that go beyond plain text.
