As a NetSuite administrator, efficiency is everything, especially when you’re navigating through countless records, transactions, and reports every day. One of the most powerful tools at your disposal is the Global Search field, which lets you find just about anything in your NetSuite account in seconds. But did you know there are handy shortcut keys that can get you to the Global Search field instantly, no matter where you are in NetSuite?
Alt + G:
Move your cursor directly to the Global Search field. No need to reach for your mouse, just press this combo and start typing your search!
Alt + Shift + G:
Want to search only within the current page (like a list or report you’re viewing)? Use this shortcut to jump to the current page search field instead of the global one.
Esc:
If you want to see results from both the global search and the current page search, simply press the Escape key. This will display results from both, giving you a broader view of your data.
Why Use These Shortcuts?
- Speed: Instantly access the search bar or page search without taking your hands off the keyboard.
- Efficiency: Perfect for power users and admins who need to multitask and move quickly.
- Focus: Reduces the need to switch between mouse and keyboard, keeping your workflow smooth.
Pro Tip: Combine with Search Prefixes
Once you’re in the Global Search field, you can use search prefixes (like `cu:` for customers, `inv:` for invoices, etc.) to narrow down your results even faster. For example, typing `cu:Smith` will show you all customers with “Smith” in their name.
Mastering keyboard shortcuts like Alt/Option + G, Alt + Shift + G, and Esc is a small change that can make a big difference in your daily NetSuite routine. Share these tips with your team to help everyone work smarter, not harder!
