Have you ever created a custom field—like for a Sales Order or Vendor Bill—and then scratched your head wondering why it’s not showing up when you try to enter a transaction?
You double-checked the setup, made sure the field is marked as “Show,” and yet… nothing.
Why Does This Happen?
This usually comes down to one of two things:
- The field isn’t assigned to the form you’re using
- There’s a display setting or condition hiding it
Even though you’ve created the field, NetSuite doesn’t automatically place it on every transaction form — especially if you're using custom forms.
How to Fix It
Here’s how to troubleshoot:
- Go to Customization > Forms > Transaction Forms
- Edit the form you’re using (e.g., Sales Order - Standard)
- On the Fields or Screen Fields tab (depends on the record type), make sure:
- The field is checked to display
- It’s placed on the correct subtab
- It’s not marked as hidden or disabled
Also, go to:
Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Transaction Body (or Column) Fields
and check:
- The applied transaction types (e.g., Sales Order, Vendor Bill, etc.)
- Any sourcing rules or display logic that might be limiting visibility
Once updated, save everything and reload the transaction — your field should now appear.
Bonus Tip:
If you're using multiple custom forms, remember to repeat the steps for each form where you want the field to appear. It's easy to fix it on one form and forget the others!
