Edit Custom GL Posting Segment on IR transactions when AP is closed

Question

I updated a custom segment on an IR transaction in a closed AP period.  It did NOT update the GL lines, even though GL is still open.   Is the correct functionality?

Would I be able to update the segment if I were to open AP again?  SuiteAnswers  leads me to believe I will not be able to update the segment.

Hello @KNason76,

Yes — that’s expected behavior.

If the AP period is closed, updating a custom segment on an Item Receipt won’t change the GL lines, even if the GL period is still open.

Reopening the AP period might let you edit the field, but it usually won’t retroactively update the GL impact.

If you only need the segment for reporting, you can update it without affecting the GL.

If it must affect the GL, create a journal entry instead.
