Bulgarian Lev to Euro Currency Change
This notice is intended for customers who use the Bulgarian Lev (BGN) currency.
What is Changing?
Effective January 1, 2026, Bulgaria will adopt the Euro (EUR) as its official currency, replacing the Bulgarian Lev (BGN).There will be a one-month parallel circulation period from January 1–31, 2026, during which both the Bulgarian Lev (BGN) and Euro (EUR) will be valid currencies. During this period, the fixed exchange rate will be:
EUR 1 = BGN 1.95583
The new currency, the Euro, uses the ISO currency code EUR and the currency symbol €. In a minor release targeted for February 2026, the default ISO code for the Bulgaria (Bulgarian) default locale will be updated to
