Is "Available" not accessible for Kit Items in a transaction saved search?

Question

When I look at a Sales Order with a Kit Item, the Available column shows a figure which is the total available quantity that can be sold given the availability of the components of the kit.

However, when I search for this number on a transaction search, Available is not a native option to the search results. To get Available for inventory items I appear to have to join through the item record. So, Item Fields… Available or {item.quantityavailable}.

I am however not able to get any info on the availability of Kit items from this, it just returns Null. I have also tried Bin on hand Available, Location Available, formulas and such.

Why is the SO able to show the quantity Available but the transaction search can't show this info?

Does anyone know of a workaround or a suiteidea I can vote on? Seems like a huge miss.

Kit items aren't really items though, it's a group of items you're selling together - like item groups.  They just slap a different income account on the group.  The availability won't show for the kit's themselves like you can for assembly items - because a kit is a group of different items, not a single item with a quantity.

I'm sorry it's not working.  Yeah, a Faff definitely.  You would have to use a custom field to display it…..

Other users have reported the similar concern. Per checking, this is the enhancement request that users are voting on: Enhancement #79662 Transactions > Sales Orders > displayed Kit Available Quantity in the item machine.

You can go to SuiteIdeaspage to vote for the enhancement.

Thank you both for the advice.

I would try to build my own available fields and columns to store the info I need, but I think for the purposes of the greater task I'll just ignore the kit items and will be dropping this idea for now.
